Topic: Stoic Thought of the Day (8th September)

It is good to make time to reflect on your day ahead when you wake up in the morning.

Some ideas for reflection:

  • How will you react to any difficult situations you will face in the day to come?
  • What does your own mortality mean to you? Do you accept the fact that you age and will die?
  • How will you try to improve yourself today?
  • Which qualities make up the ideal person? What can you do to emulate those qualities?
  • What are the things causing you unhappiness lately? How can you deal with them?

OP seems to be repackaging snippets of The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius for a lot of these. OP is doing a pretty good job at it too.

Thanks. I'm also re-writing Epictetus's Enchiridon in modern English and with some updated context, I might post that when I'm done.

Please do if you can. I've always wanted to read that, but I never seemed to get around to it. He was a freedman wasn't he? I always thought Epictetus would have an interesting take on Stoicism for having been a slave.
