I am not sure why anyone would purposely choose tuberculosis. Since I have never had TB, and certainly would not choose it, I cannot answer that question, Lynne.

Why is it puzzling that people choose, at least once, to take a drug that makes you feel good when you're high? Especially when other drugs are cut with it so you realize you've already taken it without strictly knowing?

unless you have prepared ahead of time to not involve other criminals in the production, and haven't spent money that goes to criminals, and have the money to spend on the fees involved in maintaining your life, it would be difficult to develop and maintain a meth addiction without being a drain on society one way or another, and what dimbulb wouldn't know that before even getting on that ride in the first place
you'd have to be pretty uninformed to innocently bumble your way into it

what bamboozles me is why people get on a moral high horse about drugs like meth and heroin or even cannabis but will happily tolerate someone drinking so much alcohol they go bright yellow

well you should
our actions have consequences for others, and that's the whole basis for ideas of morality (independent of notions of displeasure of the god)
the way things have played out now, involving yourself in something like meth is likely to mean involving yourself in some really awful shit out there, high level societal cancer that is far more than the immediate local surrounding that you are able to see

big macs?

Yeah, good luck existing without involving yourself in some really awful shit. When you hand over your money for any reason, whether you are buying meth or a big mac or a house or a car, you are involving yourself in a lot of shit.
But really, Who gives a fuck what they do with your dollar? It isn't yours anymore and you aren't morally responsible for how the new owner uses it.

If you go in the opposite direction then killing yourself would be a better option than doing anything because you might accidentally do something immoral or support somebody directly or indirectly who goes on to be immoral.

> So does alcohol but alcohol abuse does not have the same stigma as meth use
True, but I think the main difference is that alcoholics can be more or less functional for decades. Alcohol can destroy people quick, but on average it seems to take a lot longer than meth. I have no personal experience in the matter, but I doubt you see a lot of people who have been using meth for 10+ years and still holding down jobs and functioning more or less normally.
But I concede there might be a lot of them and I just haven't noticed and only heard about the most degenerate meth heads.

as were dozens of individuals I have been associated with..
there is a constant and inevitable erosion or degradation of that functionality that will begin at some point..
