Topic: Stoic Thought of the Day (3rd September)

One of the few things that all life has in common is what we call the survival instinct. This goes beyond just avoiding death, but stimulates all things to build up. There is a complicated web of actions and reactions taking place, and it affects everyone, and it exists to enable life to continue.

Take heart then, that even if your own individual life should be short, or cruel, or unfair, that it is all in the service of a bigger picture - one which can only result in good.

Yup, that's Schopenhauer's Will to Life there, that influenced the thought of Nietzsche, Freud, etc

This does not logically follow from the premise. Thread should be called "stoic jerk off of the day".

Stoics are just too pussy to follow the real doctrine (cynicism)
