I am tired of this shit. They promise in their advertisements that they offer the fastest speed around. We're on the highest tier of their service before you move up into the business packages. Yet my Internet is still shit and downloading can take forever, uploads can take forever, I cannot play online games anymore. Fuck them, I hope they get aids.

Yea he apparently has issues with the brother who owns the account. What he really needs to do is connect one device HARD Connected from device to the Modem - The Modems have two outputs for Hard connect. That will eliminate WiFi as an issue FIRST -

Yea Ethernet. ALWAYS MORE BETTER THEN WiFi.
However b4 you invest in that not very costly cable - Take a Laptop or whatever you have that can Ethernet connect and with a short cable just connect to the Modem and run a speed test.
That is step #1 to verify the Modem is all it should B.
I wood normally say it's near impossible for you to have speeds as low as you do. I frankly cannot imagine how that is possible. Yet you have posted the results so you do have a very strange kind of problem BUT Still the Hard connect is step #1

wired is always better. even wireless mice and keyboards suck. you want a hard wired connection especially for gaming/streaming. wireless stuff is fine for most things, but if you need actual responsiveness and stability then wired is the way to go.

Back a week(s) ago he posted his speed test result. Download and upload were Decade or more old Dial up. Slow dial up. Just hard for me to see how one could even get anything that slow even if I wanted to do that on purpose.
Also for Cathy. The more expensive Business Tier - It offers less speed because they give you a fixed IP. They are now offering an upgrade from 50 MHz to 100 but that is still being rolled out.

In trouble shooting anything you always want to eliminate all the variables and make the test as simple as possible.
So just connect one PC directly to the Modem/Router - You do have the single Modem/Router Right?
Re sucking up bandwidth - That is not how it works. The router now built into the Modems from Spectrum treat the output as if there is only one device connected and shared one device at a time with a high speed switch. No sucking up happens.
Someone may pick apart my reply because your neighborhood with heavy use does reduce your over all speed but I am betting you will never notice that when you run a speed test unless you picked the heavy traffic hours of your hood. 100 MHz might dip to 80 worst case.
Now IF You still have the old Modem and a separate router? Not likely you will see more than 30 MHz but given the Modem/Router package is at NO Cost from Spectrum and the install is just pick one up and connect (Your bro probably has to do that or get one dropped off)

We have a separate modem and router. Also, we are allowed to pick up replacement cable boxes and equipment. Yet we cannot talk over the phone since we are not authorized to do so.

Ah no way will you get top speed with that old stuff. Just go and pick up the new Modem. They will tell you you need to call for a ping to set up but usually its just connect and go except of course you need to set it up for password for WiFi but that is super simple -
If it is easy I wood still suggest you do as Spectrum wood tell you to do - Disconnect the old router and connect your PC to the Modem and run a quick speed test. Just as back up info so we can see what you get then do the same with the router - Connect and then Ethernet connect directly to the router and run a speed test - Always good to find out what was preventing you from getting speed.
