Topic: 3 members of my family waiting for evacuation from houston flooding

capt. squeegee started this discussion 9 years ago #65,388

they weren't even that close to the worst flooding. but partial roof collapse and rising water AND the levee breaking about 10 minutes ago has them awaiting rescue now.

:/

I know your're already rich but I'm sure your family members will appreciate the FEMA cash.

two homes basically wiped out. not even sure they'll even have jobs to go back to. probably no flood insurance becuase houston doesn't even require it in flood zones. i think this is worse than anyone realizes. 4th most populous us city and i think it's been wiped out...

my friends family from sugarland got evacuated last night so at least they won't drown

It's headed toward Matt next, do you think the hurricane is trying to hit as many minions as possible?

Meta is high and dry. Have them move in with him. Suggest they bring along some pork rinds.

i hope he's high and dry. when was the last we heard from him? he may have lost power or is not able to use data. my family was at a higher elevation and not in a flood area so they were caught off guard kinda. they've been having to drain their pool to keep it from flooding the yard but then water came up from the street and flooded the house.

I have a cousin over that way. She's near Ft. Hood, though. I don't think it's bad in that area.

yeah. the good news is they aren't in danger. but that makes them a lower priority recue. they do need a boat though. hopefully they be at a shelter by tonight.

@808,303 (C)
anyome know what part of houston he's in? hopefully he's just not texting to take pressure off the networks and isn't knee deep in water.

ft hood is northwest of austin i believe. they're probably pretty wet but not getting very major flooding.

it's sw of dallas, north of austin, closer to austin. probably minor flooding, haven't hesrd about much that far west/north of houston. ft hood is 4 hours from houston, like 250 miles or maybe 300.

ah, just heard 2 of them got picked up and dropped off to wait for a bus to get to shelter. 1 is still waiting to be picked up. sounds like the rescue effort is on top of things.

they've been waiting since about 9am

I hope that you can buy new family to replace a few swollen corpses.
