If you have the habit of describing the nature of each thing, you will see things as they actually are, stripped of all pretence.

The other day, somebody mentioned to me that food prepared in certain ways brings happiness. To that, I suggest the following exercise:

At a meal, say to yourself "this is the dead body of a fish, this is the dead body of a pig, this potato is the root of a plant, this wine is merely the fermented juice of a grape".

Break everything down to its constituent part and describe it thusly. Doing so, you will see the truth: these things are transient, and certainly not valuable or important.
