Do some surfing around, try to read an article on Yahoo Finance and holy shit there are so many ads and videos and shit (didn't install adblock yet in Vivaldi) that my CPU goes up to 75% and the laptop starts getting uncomfortably hot. Just one web page almost maxes out an Intel i5!

Yeah ads are fucking bad. First page you should visit in any browser that supports adblock is adblock.
And if you're using a browser that doesn't allow adblock, 1) the majority of the web is going to suck massively and 2) why are you even using a browser that doesn't support adblock?

I was just shocked at how bad it had gotten since the last time I browsed without adblock (years ago, I can't even remember how many). I really wouldn't mind static banner or text ads. I know "free" websites have to pay the rent somehow but when there's like a dozen videos and Flash ads to the point where it maxes out your CPU with one page?! That's just too much.

It's cute when ad heavy sites whine about ad blocking and compare it to theft.

I use Vivaldi without Adblock - For instance Forbes. For some reason white listing my Adblock does NOT let Forbes.com pass.
