Topic: Does 'Multiple Discovery' apply to works of art?

I've heard of there being people who as soon as they put an idea to paper or say something out loud it's "stolen" by someone. Are these ideas really being stolen or did someone else just come up with it at the same time?

Do all works of art belong to any one basic ontological category? Do all or only some works have multiple instances? Do works have (material) parts or constituents, and if so, what is their relation to the work as a whole? How are particular works of art individuated? Are they created or discovered? Can they be destroyed?

If a work of art is discovered as opposed to created does this point to the Universe being a consciousness?

The word "create" means to go from nothing to something. To go from an absence of anything to something of complexity is rare because many who do this derive from other's work. They are appropriators.

Do you believe consciousness emanates from matter? Such as the firing of neurons inside the brain. Take the brain out of the equation and consciousness doesn’t exist at all. Since the Universe is comprised of matter and energy as well as living brains, only a small part of the Universe has consciousness.

It may be easier (but perhaps inaccurate) to call the Universe God. Is there a such thing as divine inspiration? Does God take ideas back and give them to others if they are squandered?
