She started crying, "feels awful" that she offended Henn. Explained that she's not racist in any way -- she has family members who are in interracial relationships, and she herself has "been with" a black man. (?!) She claims she never said the actual word and was just quoting someone else's opinion. But two employees confirmed that that's not what happened.

Seriously. Like if I get sued for tolerating a hostile work environment, do I just get to tell the judge, "Your Honor, that didn't count, because Owen had slept with a black man before," and the case gets dismissed? Can I just tell Henn not to be offended, because Owen didn't consider it a racist thing to say and actually tolerates the existence of black people socially?
I actually do believe Owen didn't mean harm by it, but that doesn't change the fact that Henn shouldn't have to work with her after something like that, and it's a liability for me to keep her.
