Ben Stirland slipped off his chair and swallowed the top from the pen he had been chewing. Emergency crews were called to his home in Consett, County Durham, and took him to hospital but he died two days later.
Despite being seen as an extremely rare incident, the tragedy has prompted warnings about people chewing or sucking on pen tops.

Why would he die sooner if he fell on his sword. The sword may have passed into just his calf muscle. Only a minor wound. Or cut off his little toe.
