Topic: do intro to computing textbooks still bother with the list of types of computer, like microcomputer

Because even when I saw a text years ago, already any computer that a normal person saw would sit on a table and wasn't so small that you would want to call it a microcomputer, but these fuckin' texts talked as if the huge fuckin mainframes were the normal computer, and these desk things were the weirdly small things that we call "micro". No one really called them microcomputers. It was just a god damn computer. Fuckin stupid texts

If you think about it, we're actually going back to the huge fuckin mainframes with cloud computing. It's come full circle now, from mainframes to PCs and back to mainframes. All your data and software will be on a distant mainframe and you log into it with your dumb terminal. Welcome to --1955-- 2017.

yeah I don't trust it -- when a school was mostly terminals connected to a mainframe in another god damn building, the fuckin thing was "down" every god damn day for who know how long, just sit and twiddle your dicks until it's back "up"
some fuckin guy had to change a giant reel of tape if you wanted to access some bullshit 7 k worth of numbers

I think most numbers are bullshit. They could get along fine with only about seven numbers. They just have more numbers so they can feel smarter about themselves.
