Topic: White racism exists, but it's social power is weak. The social power against it is overwhelming.

A child being born in poverty is more closely related to being born to an unwed mother, than being related to race. A black child born in poverty but in a traditional family structure is more likely to escape poverty than a white child born in poverty with a single parent.
White privilege is family structure, and has nothing to do with racism.
> try to climb on the shoulders of others to get higher rather than kicking at their knees to bring them down
This guy gets it. It's one of the biggest issues I am facing now in Croatia. Instead of trying to make it better for themselves, they try to drag everyone else down to their level.
I have an open salary policy, but instead of motivating others to do better and earn higher bonuses, they started sabotaging others to earn smaller bonuses. Fucking retards.

Boy, these are amazing arguments!

Although there is nothing specifically racist about the article itself, it has a racist context. It is part of a greater network of racism and will function as ideological support for white supremacy.
Like I said, you're being mindfucked. Propaganda is interesting to observe.

Besides the point. Asking if propaganda is truthful or not is a meaningless question. It's presented to influence the reader to support a racist ideology, therefore it is racist.

What is the racist
Ideology? That single mothers dont raise children as well as a two spouse household?

Your topic constitutes a denial of the argument that one of the effects of racism against black people in modern day America is the disproportionate number of black people living in poverty.
It relies (as does all propaganda) on the use of a stereotype. In this case, the stereotype is that of the "runaway black father", as shown by your hashtag.
You also argue that racism is not a major factor in modern day America, a line of argument which is promoted by white supremacists. You can go on Stormfront and they have a whole section on how to spread the word.

I'm very confused. As I read it, OP's argument posited:
1. Growing up in a two-parent household is more closely correlated to success than race.
2. A black child raised in a two-parent household is more likely to escape poverty than a white child with a single parent, all other things equal.
3. Therefore, what we see as "white privilege" is actually a lower incidence of single parent households in white communities, not due to anything inherent in whiteness.
According to the Centers for Disease Control National Vital Statistics Report (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr61/nvsr61_01.pdf) (table 15, page 45) 29.0% of non-hispanic white mothers had children born out of wedlock, whereas 72.5% of non-hispanic black mothers did in 2010.
According to Kids Count, using US Census data (http://datacenter.kidscount.org/data/tables/107-children-in-single-parent-families-by#detailed/1/any/false/867,133,38,35,18/10,9,12,1,185,13/432,431) 25% of non-hispanic white children lived in single-parent households vs 67% of black children in 2011, which correlates pretty closely to the out of wedlock figures for both white and black.
I don't think that racial discrimination is causing it because it's been going up equally, for all races, since the 1950s. Presumably racial discrimination was worse then than it is now.

@previous (Meta) Escaping poverty is more likely growing up in a poor family with two parents, than in a poor family with only one. Regardless of race.
Being born into poverty is more likely the result of an unwed single mother. Regardless of race.

There's a series of complicated reasons for this, you can't just tie it down to one thing and act like that's evidence that racism isn't so bad.

Did you even look at the data? The illegitimacy rate has been going up for ALL races, equally, for the past 60 years.

So you agree that blaming black fathers is a red herring. There is a disproportionate number of black children born out of wedlock, as your own data shows. This is a symptom of societal racism.

If it's racism then why is the white illegitimacy rate rising along with the black one? If it was racism wouldn't you expect a flat (or declining) white rate?

In this very thread it is being used to assert that whites are not prejudiced against blacks. Categorising human beings like furniture is immoral. I'm sure you hate being stereotyped, you fat hairy incestuous swamp-dwelling crack head.

Where's the evidence?
@793,746 (Sheila LaBoof) > everyone should get some [privilege]
by definition impossible
@794,323 (I) > There is a disproportionate number of black children born out of wedlock, as your own data shows. This is a symptom of societal racism.
I don't see how that follows
> No it was used to assert that poverty and single parent households are more detrimental to blacks than racism.
Racialized inequality is racism. Black poverty is a result of institutional racism. You choose to believe that it isn't, so why have this discussion
you're retarded @794,693 (I)

Okay but why was the illegitimacy rate lower in the 1950s, during the height of Jim Crow, redlining, segregation, etc? Is that not institutional racism?
Second, if it is institutional racism, then why is the illegitimacy rate going up for whites, at the same rate? Wouldn't whites be unaffected if it was racism?
