Topic: guess who's extremely wealthy relative finally died and who's inheritance just kicked in

squeegee started this discussion 9 years ago #63,444

one hundred and nine. yeah. held on like a fucking ghoul. she outlived a lot of the people she willed money to actually. and there at the end she apparently pulled a whole bunch of philanthropic donations, which totaled about half, and redistributed amongst relatives because she didn't know what was real anymore and that we would make better choices. so i'm supposed to give away a lot of money to charity. but, i'm not specifically legally bound to. isn't that fucking awesome? i never dreamed being me was going to pay off so bigly. and i got her artwork because she loved me and i talked to her about it all the time because i was an art student for a while. i own a bunch of 8x10 picasso sketches now. all told i got the most of anyone. including artwork i won't name cause im'a sell 'em and idk if my name will be discoverable when they go to auction.

i don't know how to spend my day tomorrow. should i just go shopping or do i just go directly to buying real estate? i kinda want a condo downtown and a place in the country. i don't want to get like a fancy car until i move somewhere... a little nicer. i'm sure you know what i mean.

my folks are having a big party tomorrow night, i'll probably go to that, but it'd be pretty bad ass to, like, show up in something gaudy. i wonder how much it would cost to have a helicopter drop me off on the the back pasture? that'd be pretty dope.

i'm also really fucking glad i held off getting married now that i can find me a really gorgeous gold digger. i dodged a couple of bullets though, i'll tell you that. that's what i should do is go and get a really expensive wardrobe.

how is it warped to want to better myself if i now have the means? there's nothing wrong with wanting to dress better than other people, and live in nicer places with better quality people. that's the american dream. and you should be more open minded with your political beliefs, i read the senate's new healthcare bill today and there's actually a lot of good things in there. people need to give trump a chance.

so, if i want a white tesla model S i'll need to custom order it, so i'll probably have to do the helicopter thing if i can't find a dealership tomorrow. not sure how they sell teslas. they have a store at the mall though...

You have the means because of nothing to do with yourself. You have a respectable job, if you'd like to buy a nicer wardrobe and treat yourself to a better car I wouldn't call you a piece of shit.

But if you are inheriting enough for two pieces of property and a 6 figure toy there are a multitude of things you could do with it. You are worse than the average conservative you despise if you think you deserve anything other than a swift kick in the ass and a reminder that coming from wealth doesn't entitle you to the nicest things.

I'm 22 years old. I have several hundred thousand dollars. I keep it invested for worthwhile things. I drive the same car I bought when I was 16. I can fit the things I own in a bag on my back (I do so a few times a year). I rent an apartment in a part of the city wealthy people do not step foot in.

You are several years older. You have several times the wealth I do, and you are several times more the conceited dick.

Grow. Up.

@793,481 (C)
oh, well you misunderstand, i have orders of magnitude more money than you. after i liquidate my inheritance i could probably fund a war in a small country. if that makes me a conceited dick, well, then i'm probably the biggest conceited dick you'll even know in your life. i'm just going to have to get used to the fact that not everyone respects people with more than them, it's a lesson i should take to heart. especially since sometime next week i'll have to go to a meeting with the board of directors of her company and let them know that i'm selling off my majority holdings and they probably aren't going to like that.

edit: technically my lawyer will tell them, but i'll have to be there i think. to sign papers? idk.

If you're not pranking minichan - I do have some serious reccomandations on your inheritance:

1. Shut the fuck up about it. In this day & age, you have professional grifters, conners, scammers, thugs and criminals who would love to do anything to get any chunk of that money. I'm not saying you can't speak about it, but be selective on who you talk about it.

2. I'm not a financial advisor, but most rich people get a huge sum and divide it in to investments. They usually live off the percentage of the investment and you have to spend money to make money. Go to a rich area and find a decent financial planner. A good one is goldman sachs since they literally are literal money wizards. You give them a big chunk of money and they will invest it for you. They always make more than 3% even in a terrible year and it's not hard to live off of it, if the sum given is decent. I know a dude who has a million in the bank and gets like 8k a month extra.

3. Any money you give out to people should be regarded as a gift. Most idiots begging for money for a "business plan" can barely balance a pen in their hand. It's much easier for your self-esteem than giving out "loans" to people.

4. If you want to sleep with b-grave tv/movie stars and former models, you know have the cash to do so. Most aren't worth the money since -- let's be honest -- sleeping with a boring bikini model or CW actress gets boring after a while. Owning a yacht on the otherhand usually means you can pull like parties of women and have some fun. I don't know why yachts have that power, but they do.

5. Most rich people are boring as fuck and have simpleton tastes(More money = Better Clothing - type of thinking). The ones that are exciting are usually drug addicts or Chris Chan with some change. Knowing that should help you understand rich psychology and not get pushed in. Pretty much avoid the rich people who would post on minichan, if they knew what it's about.

6. When you get bored from owning a lot of items(Somatic Narcissism), understand that the (cerebral narcissism) takes over. You will feel a great need to help the world by using your money to do so. It's a natural phenoma that will turn your ass in to a Robert Mercer, Peter Thiel if conservative or a George Soros if liberal. Also owning thinktanks and pushing for lobbyists will be a natural thought process once the money comes in. Less ambitious rich people usually pour money in to pet causes that affect them(Narcissistic Solipsism). Shit like Celian, Autism , Breast Cancer, Animal Rescue are the vogue things for those types.

I hope I could help with my poorly written post.

squeegee (OP) replied with this 9 years ago, 41 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^] [v] #793,521

i like your idea in number 4. sleeping with b-grade tv and movie stars sounds pretty dope tbh. i have enough money i could maybe even be a b grade tv or movie star. i bet i could finance a netflix show and make myself semifamous. and if i make it sci-fi then maybe there'll be a cult following and i can get invited to comic con and bone the hot ass actress from Firefly. i mean, what can't i do, really?

and no, i won't worry about feeling a need to help others with my money, i don't plan to have kids and i'll just leave my money to whatever charities my little foundation is into when i die. i'll be a posthumous robert mercer and spend my life high on some really, really, really expansive pot.

edit: i meant expensive, but expansive works too.

Also don't give anyone any money. You earned that shit the old fashioned way. You will have five hundred people with sob stories asking for such and such. Fuck them. Get a financial planner like introman said and only spend money how you want to. You don't have to be frugal but try to be a little responsible. Athletes blow through ten million bucks like it's chump change. Be smart and live well but at a reasonable level.

i've actually given a lot of thought to donating my semen for artificial insemination. I used to do it in college, but since i wasn't rich or anything my "profile" wasn't super impressive and i dunno that any got used. but now that i'm wealthy my profile can boast some really awesome shit, like i can just make myself CEO of some company i buy just so i can put it on the label. then i'd probably make a pretty popular product. and i now have the freedom to travel around, so i may spend a year just traveling the country, maybe the world, and donate as frequently as possible to as many clinics as i can find.

she wasn't that bad. I heard a lot of people went to her funeral this morning, but it was mostly business associates and her staff and stuff.

@793,762 (S)
honestly i can spend that money better than some random charity, which is what she was doing before. my mom found out that gammy had been donating hundreds of thousands of dollars a month through her foundation which was being skimmed from and the money was being routed through foreign charities and ended up being scams. that's why she decided to break up her foundation and divide her philanthropy up and make it all of our responsibilities to find worthy causes. she got taken for quite the ride. millions were embezzled, we don't even know how much she gave to con artists.

so any amount i donate to a real charity would be doing more philanthropy than my gammy did in the last 15 years of her life since she started her foundation. i'm pretty big into education, so i'm thinking i'm going to start a foundation with the goal of raising money for scholarships. maybe art scholarships specifically. it'd be way cheaper than just donating half of my inheritance, and still in the spirit of her request.
