You either get dumb AI that cheats or smart AI that you can't beat.
Another option is smart AI that is gimped based on your skill level.
Basically, either the AI will cheat or he is cheating, so why complain either way... it's just a game he should really just relax.
If you were 'straight up racing' against a real AI he would lose because he is not making the optimal move every time like the AI will.
He really wouldn't enjoy racing against a real AI opponent.
