Isn't D&D the same thing as Skyrim though? Why not play the computer game?

I tried to get into Skyrim but all this stuff about levels and classes and hit points and whether you'd rather be an org mage or a paladin knight or whatever was a bit too autistic so I went back to Doom.

Like most things it's better when alcohol is involved.
@789,359 (I)
That was turned into a pen and paper RPG too.

I just end up drinking more than anybody else and being confused and asking questions about hit points and 'which of these fucking dice am I supposed to roll this time'
its like letting them play for me it's just. I don't think I can do it

It can seem a little daunting at first. My advice would be not to worry too much about the rules for now.
Still, a cheat sheet couldn't hurt to start with, or if you care to there are a bunch of tutorials and videos out there to help introduce new players to the game.

I rather play with fire with pals instead, something less being-on-ass-for-hours
