Well we have a dementia patient who keeps proposing to me, so I made up a binge drinking common law husband named Hank, to try and dissuade him.

Question. When a dementia patient has some kind of long term pain - Does dementia reduce it. Like do they forget they are in pain?

No they do not forget exactly. They have a hard time telling you that they are in pain even if asked directly though. So if a doctor during a visit asks them if they are in pain they say no. So then you ask them does your back hurt? Does your your neck hurt? And so on until you get the proper responses.
They can also get really mean or nervous/agitated do to having pain but not being able to deduce the cause.

Damn - I have a local friend who is in his 80's and his wife has many many health issues with pain. Now with some kind o internal pain pump that directly injects morphine into her spine. Docs are taking forever jacking up the necessary dose. She was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

So it ends up a communication problem OK Thanks.
