If they're going to college a hundred dollars towards an iPad Pro or MacBook would be nice. Generally people just give money. My rich friends got at least 1 or 2 thousand dollars cumulatively after graduation.

Gifts for finishing school? How common is that in USAmerica? Are people not generally expected to finish highschool so this is a big achievement?

yeah, it's to celebrate 12 years of hard work and to send them off into adulthood. most common gift is cash to help them get on their feet and find work or go to school. or some folks just go to dinner. idk, tradition, not sure why that would be as controversial as regular dentistry.
anyway, my nephew is going to college so we're all looking for gifts to help settle into that life. like the big gift he's getting from his folks is luggage.
i went and got him a little yeti ice cooler for road trips, vacations, and tail gate parties before football games. practical and they're nice, not something he'd be able to afford for a long time.
