If she just took the $100 bill and ran the loss would be $100 obviously. BUT she bought $70 worth of goods which cost the owner less than $70 (he's selling them at a profit) so the question can't really be answered without the owner's cost of goods sold but the total loss is actually less than $100

Well, not necessarily if you factor in potential profit. The assumption is that those items would be sold for a net gain , and thats really no longer possible.
