Green I had like 800 books. They take up a lot of space and attract bugs. Now the only paper books that I own either belong to my lover or are tomes that are not available digitally.

I would assume that the majority of that 45 goes to the author/publisher.

Anonymous D replied with this 9 years ago, 1 hour later, 3 days after the original post[^] [v] #787,476

There's no point in blaming Amazon, your beef is with academic publishers.

They've been charging inflated prices for academic works for decades, to take advantage of students who may need to use them.

tl;dr?
Through the KDP Select program you can price your book between $.99 and $2.98 to receive 30% of the sale price. When the price is $2.99 or more you can get 70% of the sale though.

It's been happening for decades, Kook. Another thing they like to do is come out with new "editions" of textbooks every year that students are then required to buy. This prevents them buying secondhand ones at a cheaper price.
