Debates: feature request
I feel like if we could have debates in a fashion where both opponents get to speak and one person doesn't just shout down the other with rambling talking points, that might be useful. If we could just shut off the mike at some point, so the other side couldn't try to screech down the other like some barn owl in heat. That might get us somewhere. Talking OVER some person trying to debate you doesn't make you right. It just makes you an asshole.
Really, the Lincoln-Douglas debates are worlds apart from anything we've seen in American history since.
In addition to being not particularly original, contains autphag-isms like:
"This tells us that if we try to enforce permanent equality, we can probably expect permanent violence. I am not a big fan of "empirical evidence," but I think this prediction corresponds pretty well to reality."

Again I'm not endorsing everything (or anything) Mencius Moldbug wrote but I think his internet debating idea was pretty neat.

My favourite part of that article is where he is talking about how generous he is for sharing his idea on his shitty blog
