Even Democrats agree Comey was incompetent

One of those is an opinions column...

It really grinds my gears when people bitch at newspaper columnists from one paper having different opinions. Like, fuck, it's not meant to present one uniform viewpoint on everything.

They're both opinion columns. One representing the collective opinion of the Post editorial board, the other representing the opinion of Jamie Gorelick and Larry Thompson.

When Comey concluded that Hillary Clinton had done nothing wrong with her private email server, Democrats praised him for doing his job and Republicans criticized him. When he reopened the investigation of Hillary Clinton based on new emails found on Anthony Wiener's laptop, he was denounced by Democrats and praised by Republicans.

But the image you posted does not say any of that. It's just The Washington Post's masthead and two "conflicting" headlines. It's pretty clear that the intention of the image is to make The Washington Post look hypocritical and fickle.

It's not hypocritical or fickle at all. The Washington Post was 100% pro-Hillary. The Post viewed Comey's actions in terms of whether or not they helped Hillary. When he was seen to be helping Hillary, he was a good and fair man. When he was seen to be hurting Hillary, he was a bad man.

Now I'm not picking on the Post here. If you read Fox news or Breitbart they did the exact same thing with regards to Comey.

Which is a struggle something a simple one-to-one headline comparison cannot adequately capture, IMHO. It doesn't show if the second opinion column is adhering to "the party line", or if The Washington Post indeed had a "party line". To me, it just comes off as a memeish post meant to make the The Washington Post look dumb, rather than comment on a wider change of opinion.

All newspapers do. The Post is absolutely pro-Hillary and anti-Trump. I would assume the columns called "The Post's View" by the Washington Post editorial board would represent the consensus view of the Post's editors. The individual editors may deviate slightly from the party line one way or the other but I don't think any would really disagree with it.

Even the Post's token conservative, Jennifer Rubin, was a strident #NeverTrump who endorsed Hillary Clinton.

all true but you have to concede that your original post was half baked and memeish. hardline democrats would be as bad as trumpian Republicans if conservative politics weren't so flat out regressive. retards

I don't dispute that the paper had a party line that may have changed at certain points, just that the image was inadequate to show that and came off as trollish.

I would have preferred a paragraph from yourself explaining this issue, in fact.

@783,682 (F)
I don't, no. Generally, The Guardian is enough to keep me informed of events.

Yes the image was memeish but I think it got the point across, succinctly. All I wanted to show is that people's perceptions of James Comey changed based on how his actions impacted (or were believed to impact) the presidential election. Again, you would see the exact same thing on Fox News, just with reversed opinions of Comey's actions.
