Why is the first 100 days considered so important?
I know the "first 100 days" thing goes back to Franklin Roosevelt who supposedly did a lot in his first 100 days but it just seems like a weird, arbitrary measure to judge a presidency by. Every president faces a different environment and circumstances and so why you judge any other president by what FDR did in 1933?

The contract just says he'll "pursue" those things ?. Just like how the Declaration of Independence guarantees the pursuit of happiness. It doesn't guarantee happiness, just the pursuit. You have to read the fine print.
Some of those promises, like canceling federal funding to sanctuary cities and banning immigration from six countries aren't even legal. I'm pretty sure a contract to break the law is void from the beginning.
Also Republican contracts should never be takenseriously

The fact that they aren't constitutional didn't stop Trump from actually trying to implement them. There is nothing particularly humorous here, and this is a 100 day standard he held himself to explicitly. People are making a big deal about it because he was making a big deal about it.

On the bright side, the built-in checks and balances are working. He hasn't been able to cause as much damage as he wanted to.

Yes the antibodies of the system are fighting the disease but it's still gonna cause long term damage.

And he did try to pursue all of those things in the first hundred days, just like the contract said. What more could you ask for?

1460 days is not even close to 8 years, did I miss something?

That's what I mean by at least. That's the minimum.
Honestly why doesn't Jon Stewart run in 2020? He's a TV show host with no government "experience" but it turns out you can win the Presidency with those qualifications. He's charismatic, great public speaker, great on camera, everyone on the left likes him, he's had a feud with Trump since like, ever, so there's a great narrative there. Again Trump has zero qualification to be President so Stewart's lack of government experience won't count against him. Oh, he'd be an "outsider" too which is always good. He's built up a YUGE fanbase over the last 20-some years with The Daily Show. He'd be the perfect anti-Trump.

Yes, you missed the executive order where he advanced the calendar by 8 years. The reasoning being that, if 8 years passed instantly instead of normally, then he would have simultaneously completed and not completed his two terms, effectively making him President for life.
