Topic: Is it more or less polite to shut the door in a door-to-door salesman's face?

*ding dong* open door
(man with Dish Network shirt): "Hello sir, I-"
(Meta the Mad Meddling Mod): "No thanks" shut door
I think it's actually more polite. I have no intention of buying his shit and by ending the interaction as soon as possible I'm not wasting his time by letting him go into his sales script.

that's the worst
the closest i've got to a door-to-door salesman was a guy from Bell hanging out in the lobby. He'd ask you how much you paid for internet/tv/phone and then proceed to tell you how much cheaper/better Bell is. he asked how much i pay for internet and then just said oh okay and crossed me off whatever list he had
that made me laugh

I would just say no thank you and wait a bit while they are leaving and then close the door
