Pretty much, Kimmo's utopian dream, you dial into the BBS over the phone line with your Soviet-era modem, but telnet gives you a way to simulate dialing on your computer you could run command telnet anonbbs.org:1337 in bash terminal or connect to anonbbs.org port 1337 on a telnet app for phone/computer. All text baseless filled with ASCII and ANSI characters sometimes with neat little colorings.
