ITT: Let's post some nicknames we've had IRL.
About 10 years ago I got the nickname "Enrico" (some people changed it to "Enrique") from a girl in high school. Even she doesn't know how/why she came up with that name, but it stuck all throughout high school.

About 4 years ago, I used to go to gaming internet cafes and play counter strike with random guys. I met a really fat guy who was fond of me and would lend me his steam account. I complained to him one day how I disliked people calling me "Meme" (my original name is Myriam.) He suggested "Memo" instead. I was going through my emo/rebel/tomboy phase at that point and thought it was cute because it had "emo" in it. I had a friend in high school whose nickname was Skittles because his last name was Kittl. I think he got the nickname from the same friend who gave me the name Enrico, and his also stuck. Mainly because his was catchy, given his last name.

I don't have much in terms of family history. I know I'm distantly related to the Yuenglings, and I know my first American ancestors came over here from Germany in 1848 because of a failed German revolution. They called then "fourty-eighters" because so many Germans migrated that year because of it. I always joke about it and say "silly Germans and their failed revolutions."
