Cabrini Green was the perfect setting for this movie. It was like a dungeon of crime that was inaccessible by the Chicago PD. They even had snipers on the roof trying to shoot people at a rival housing project.

This was bold for the time. Unfortunately the studio shit themselves about how politically loaded it was to have a big black man tormenting the white woman (Virginia Madsen) so for the sequels they really went over the top with all the slavery shit (which isn't in Clive Barker's original story). This was a mistake. They should have just had some balls and said: "Yeah, our killer is a huge black guy with a penchant for blonde women. It happens."
