Long ago when I was a scared kid i couldn't sleep and slowly this invisible thing started restraining me, burdening me. I was very scared from this sensation but it's presence wasn't a surprise to me, it was so familiar. It was something everyone knew what was and kept running into but never would admit to it. I don't think it has a name but it's there, visiting us all from time to time.
Both. But it doesn't forcefully restrain you, it just holds onto you, wanting to "cuddle" i suppose. The mental part is like it revealing itself to you. It shows you how it sees things but within your own mind, i wonder if it's trying to be subtle or if it just does it that way.

I used to live in a place that was haunted by an invisible cat. I used to feel it jump up on the bed and walk around, looking for a comfortable place to curl up. Whenever I turned the lamp on, there was nothing there, of course, but it seemed to happen every few nights.
