Connection speeds may continue to improve but it will never feel faster because people will just increase the amount of data being sent.
If we behaved as if a large percentage of users were still on 56K then the Internet would feel fast as fuck and would feel even faster as time went on. Instead, the size of content online gets larger and larger as time goes on, leaving the internet feeling slow as fuck.

Yeah I noticed this watching old episodes of The Computer Chronicles on YouTube. They would show Microsoft Office running on Windows 3.1 on like a 133MHz Compaq with 8MB RAM ($6,999) and Word and Excel started up in less than five seconds. In 1993. In 2017 I have enough time to fix a cup of coffee before Word finishes loading on hardware thousands of times faster.

I used to download dadrock on Kazaa and Limewire. Man those were the days. These millennials don't know how good they have it with their iZunes and Blackberries.
