There were Walkman devices for CDs too.

One of my uncles told me that he once owned a portable record player designed specifically for vehicular transport; it was the predecessor to the dashboard cassette deck and played 45s. I always thought he was spinning tall tales until I saw this video:

Yeah I had a CD Walkman but I think CDs aren't very popular with dadrockers.
That record player is really cool though. Probably the best sound quality you could get in a car back then. Surprised it doesn't skip according to that guy
