Even if the quality of thinkpads went down with newer models (IMO, the last series that is worthy of the thinkpad brand was the Tx20/Xx20 series) they are military grade compared to this flimsy consumer crap everyone else is pushing out.
Only other thing I would recommend is the HP ElitBook and ZBook series. Everything else, garbage, specially if you keep work related stuff on it.
Even if the quality of thinkpads went down with newer models (IMO, the last series that is worthy of the thinkpad brand was the Tx20/Xx20 series) they are military grade compared to this flimsy consumer crap everyone else is pushing out.

I was about to say it was because very very few people want to pay more than $500 for a laptop so they cheapened the product but then I remembered Dell makes everything from like crappy $250 Walmart laptops to the really nice Latitude, XPS, and Precision laptops so that's not a valid excuse.
They're making a terrible mistake by pissing off all the professional customers willing to drop big money on a laptop.

I've got an Acer Aspire V15 and I fully recommend it to left handed people like myself. The power and all the ports are on the right hand side which I think would get in the way of the mouse and piss me off.
