Pressure does not damage a child. Pressure is part of life. Excessive pressure does damage a child. BAD parents can place excessive pressure on their child in any number of areas - sports, school, acting, music - no need to single out beauty pageants. I don't understand the point of beauty paegents so I can't really comment on their merits, apart from the audience apreciating the physical beauty of the contestants.
