Topic: the country called Kiribati is pronounced "keeriboss"

You see, the place was formerly a UK territory of the Gilbert Islands. In the local language, as spoken by someone who doesn't speak very good English, Gilbert comes out sounding like keeriboss. The spelling Kiribati reflects that, but shittily.

You know, the more I hear it pronounced, I think it's more like kiribuss, and the r is really a tongue flap like in Japanese.
