One of my junkie piece of shit neighbours was banging at my window. Then he started trying to bash it in. I have it all voice recorded. Then when he came in he started trying to kick my door down. I had phoned the police. They asked what was happening and told me to pack my stuff (said they would only give me 5 minutes) and took me to my Gran's house. I asked what would happen to my neighbour and they said he was drunk so they would just let him sleep it off. The lock on my door is loose and I am fearful that all my things (Wii U, TV etc) are going to be stolen. I am traumatized by this incident and I don't know why they didn't take him away and not me. I was treated like the criminal. I have evidence of his threatening behaviour and the police are doing nothing. I don't really care what people like you think. Has it ever occurred to you I am different in real life to how I act here. I have tried my goddamned hardest to pull myself up the past 4 or so years. Hastoe park was a major fuck up. It was my fault though, I shouldn't have drank and trashed my place up, but I never threatened or hurt anyone and I never will. I have quit drinking, haven't drank in 4 or so months and try to be quiet and respectful to my neighbours. Haven't had a single complaint against me. I don't deserve this harassment, I don't deserve some druggie fuck trying to break my window and then almost kick my door down. I don't deserve to have my life put in danger like this. Nobody is helping me anymore, it has been surreal. I got put in a cell for less than this, but it's OK for someone to kick my door down because he is drunk and he'll just sleep it off. I am sorry for beimg a dick to evertone here. I consider most of you my family and I wish no ill upon any of you. Matt's antics have cheered me up to no end and kept me sane. But my sanity is slipping and incidents like this do not help.

Your story is made up, that's why you're not getting sympathy. There is no way what you described actually happened and the police simply decided to let the guy sleep it off. They will have asked you if you wanted to press charges for damage to your property. So yeah, stop lying.

Then why didn't you press charges? It is not like the police use their own judgement when randomly deciding which crimes to prosecute. They definitely will have asked you if you wanted to press charges if what you've described actually happened, so why are you pretending that they didn't?

Yeah, now it gets even more ridiculous. One of the most heavily regulated and red-taped types of institution in Britain, and the police are not telling you what your rights are and asking if you want to prosecute when a violent crime has taken place? Why not then sue the police? They are guilty of dereliction of duty. Your story didn't happen.

Yes there was, he could and should have said "I wish to formally press charges, officer". Then the system, which was set up with the express purpose of making sure that the British police can never be reliant upon the whims and fancies of the individual officers, kicks into gear.
The reason "things don't work the way you think" is because the average citizen does not know their rights. As long as there are clueless Greens in this world (no offence Green), the system will be as you described.
