I'll probably never buy a phone directly through AT&T (or Verizon for that matter) ever again. I got a Blackberry Curve 8520 back in August, and the screen crapped out on me 4 months in. They said it was my fault and that it wasn't covered under the warranty (complete bullshit). The only reason I got it replaced is because I was banging an AT&T rep at the time and she lied and pulled some strings for me. Only problem is, the "new" one they sent me was a refurbished one with only a 90-day warranty, so I got fucked. Now, the screen on this one is dying on me too. Obviously a manufacturer defect for it to happen twice in 8 months despite the fact that I take perfect care of my phones, but of course they refuse to do jack shit about it. I would have gotten insurance, but they want me to pay $10/month for insurance and then pay a $100 deductible on a phone that costs less than $200 retail. Fucking shitheads.
Anyway, I bought a used (but in near-mint condition) Blackberry Curve 9300 off eBay for $160 (including shipping). Sucks to pay that much for a low-end phone, but when you're not due for renewal and you've gotta pay market price, that's the shit you get stuck with. It beat's paying they $120/year for insurance only to pay another $100 for an obsolete phone. Jackasses.

Because I have all my blackberry shit backed up, I have BB accessories and extra batteries, I like the apps, it's an affordable 3G smartphone, and it's one of the few phones that has a 3.5mm audio jack instead of some proprietary bullshit. I'm hoping that this is just a problem with the piece of shit refurbished 8520s that AT&T sold me, and the 9300 is better, given BB's normally outstanding reputation. I wouldn't buy an iPhone because a) no microSD slot, b) no removable battery, and c) I'm not an Apple faggot who uses an iPhone just to have an iPhone. I did consider ditching BB altogether after this ordeal, though.
