Like, how a protein can just spontaneously misfold, or you can eat meat with a misfolded protein and then it will slowly kill you slowly in perhaps the most horrible way imaginable, by turning your brain into sponge. I'm deathly afraid of prions.

Jokes on you, I can't afford proper meat.

I'm more scared of things like being murdered (1/1000 chance), dying of an injury (1/20 chance), and being diagnosed with cancer (1/2 chance) than stuff like that.
I think you're missing the forest for the trees bro, stay safe

A prion disease is perhaps one of the worst things that you can possibly imagine though and can even occur spontaneously (without a prior infection source). I would happily take any of those over a prion disease.

Sorry. I didn't mean to come off that way, or come off as argumentative.

Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease is only one disease in that category. Other prion diseases are just as bad and may have varying or rates of cognitive decline, effect a different part of the brain causing different symptoms,, etc.

Sorry me neither. But what I mean is that there are bigger fish to fry than CJD, and even if there weren't then you cannot prevent it. If it happens it happens, that's just the way it is. All you're doing is stressing about it which ironically is increasing your chances of stroke.

I know, I was just reading about Prion diseases and was like "Wow, they're terrifying", I don't really spend a lot of my time thinking about them, but only since I was reading up on the neuropathology on Fatal Familiar Insomnia which is IMO one of the most interesting diseases out there. I just got to thinking.
