I have a question, and I would value your answer on it, everyone else can pinch in their 2 cents as well, but I really care about FakeAnons opinion on this one.
Let's say something bad happened to you while you were a kid, for the sake of this discussion, let's say you were bullied in school.
And now that you're grown up, you're being interviewed for an anti-bullying video. You talk with the moderator and you start talking about todays kids that get bullied and you tell him how they remind you when you were young.
What face expression would you have when you say "those kids remind me of myself"?
Would you have a smile on your face, be sad because all those memories come back up again, be furious that there are still kids that are being bullied? What emotions would go through your head?

Imagine anything bad that happened to you, and a bunch of kids remind you of those times. I took bullying as an example, it could be anything. You fighting cancer as a kid, being too poor to afford butter for your bibles etc...
How would you feel while saying "these kids remind me of myself"?

This is bizarre. Uh...I guess I would have a slightly sad look on my face because I remembered what it was like to be bullied and I'm not happy that it is still happening to other kids. But...Why?

That's pretty much how every sane person would act in such situations. I got told I look like a puppy left in the rain when I talk about why I quit my sponsors and went back to college (reason is, I've seen to many friends get seriously injured and then left with no sponsors nor education).
At 1:20 the Holocaust Survivor gets asked what he thinks about what role fear plays in how we're handling the Syrian refugee crisis.
He says "there are many people suffering there. I look at those children and it breaks my heart. I see them... I... I see myself... in their faces :3 :)"
The whole video is odd, but this part creeped me out. How can this be normal? Or am I again being irrational and see things where there's nothing to see?

Nah, my question is more like, why would someone smile while thinking about the tragedy they have experienced?
How bad must have the holocaust been to him if it puts a smile on his face...

I read the facial expression as searching for a sign of understanding in the receiver and then finding it, presumably there was a reciprocated nod and smile the camera did not show from the interviewer.
Yeah no this kind of pause and smile communicates first patience and then encouragement in response to a non-verbal indication of understanding. You could try this kind of two-way communication yourself.

Yeah, I do that when I talk about normal/happy things. Or do you expect me to be like "yeah, that's how my grandma died... she was hit by a bus just like that... :3 :)"?
