Cause he brought class into the argument, stupid. While hillary did her thing, trump did his thing. His thing was called all kinds of names, but that's what class struggle is...... UGLY.
I feel you. Anything i disagree with makes little sense as well.

I don't disagree with you, because you haven't made an actual point I can disagree with. And I am capable of understanding points of view that I do not hold, but if you can't you should work on that.

You see, in society there are groups of people. Sometimes they are divided into three groups in terms of economic standards:
#1 lower class
#2 middle class
#3 upper class
While hillary did speak for some of the underprivileged like transsexuals and gays, she neglected the middle and lower class, or at least the people struggling in those two classes.
That's where trump comes in, because he hated on the wealthy "elite" he was able to draw in support from leftists who saw themselves in a class struggle.
Hillary was not able to do so because her focus was on so called the pc struggle, but class struggle is anything but pc, it's as ugly as it gets.
If you still don't understand anything, I'm afraid I don't understand anything you are saying so please be detailed.

They appealed to different kinds of people in those classes. Clinton won the poor vote. She won the total vote. She lost among the white working class. It's more complicated than just "class struggle" but I feel like you don't engage in any data even at a cursory level, so you don't have any way of checking if your ideas are a good explanation or not.

The majority did not vote for Trump. This is why I am so frustrated talking to you. You do not even make the most basic attempt to understand the issue at hand. Instead you watch a zizek video and try to apply some bastardized version of marxist analysis to an issue that may not even be amenable to it, and declare anyone who disagrees with your bizarre and unfounded assertions as the ones at fault. I swear you make threads just to get your thoughts out of your head, and not because you actually care what other people have to say about them.

Well okay dude. Trump won not by popular vote but by the rules established long before him. Alright, I admit that, m sry k?
But I don't see how that counters the argument of him winning because he brought class into the issue.

Because he didn't win among any one economic class by a big margin. He lost among the very poor and working poor. He won by 4 percent among middle class and basically split upper middle class and upper class. Analyzing this purely by income makes very little sense.

You're arguing in a circle. You say that he won by exploiting class warfare. I would think if this were true, he appealed to some class or classes by a lot more than Hillary Clinton. He didn't. Your counterargument is that he won by exploiting class warfare because because he won. Do you not see the circularity of your reasoning?

I'm simply agreeing with my self proclaimed comrade, slavoj zizek.
Sure I don't have any evidence, despite trump making class a relevant issue during the debate. Me not having any evidence regarding why trump won goes for everybody however and the margins by which he won ultimately has very little effects on the explanation of it all.
Yes I don't have any evidence and so it's all speculation, but it's not any more of a speculation than anyone else's.
They all thought trump was going to lose even in the very beginning, showing "data" and what not.... But it was all wrong. Very wrong.

Class is always an issue during american politics. Bernie Sanders ran explicitly on a class-based message, to a fault. Clinton openly said she would raise taxes on the wealthy. There's a difference between not having evidence, and being directly in opposition to the evidence. The former means your theory is untested, the latter means it's wrong. You fall into the latter category. This is one of the reasons that I am not a fan of marxism generally. When everything is analyzed in terms of class struggle, or social relations among classes, I think a lot of nuance and alternative explanations are necessarily overlooked.

Look, I don't like trump. Ever since I was a child i have hated him for firing people, while also making a tv show of. it.
But if it were just hillary and some nobody Republic, Hillary would have won BUT EVEN SO, a hillary victory would mean a left party getting more comfortable as it is already, even as already it's straying away from the working class.
In my eyes, the Democratic party deserves a beating like trump is. My only hope is that they will learn something instead of complaining and whining. Behind every fascism there is a failed leftist revolution, let's hope trump wakes up the left.... But I worry that the left cannot be waken up. It's unable to listen to the working class at the moment.

It's the not just the working class though, which is my point. It's the WHITE working class. American politics is very racialized. She won 75 percent of nonwhites without a college degree and Trump won 67 percent of whites without a college degree. I'm not a marxist but I would imagine that the marxist analysis would be something like this: Trump used fear of foreigners and other races in America to divide the working class among themselves, and against the "other", and used that discord to convince the white majority to vote for him because he would protect them from the true cause of their ills, the mexicans and the black people in inner cities. Meanwhile, the actual source of their problems, the rent-seeking capitalist millionaire and billionaire class, waltz into power and enrich themselves even more at the expense of the poor. As evidenced by the repeal of Obamacare and related taxes, plus the appointment of multiple billionaires to Trump's cabinet.
If you had typed anything resembling that, which I think is wrong, I would have at least given you credit for having an explanation that fit both the facts and your ideology. You didn't even do that much though.

You simply do not understand. You lack the reality "factor". Like in Iceland, the party and the only party i have been able to vote for (the Pirates) lost all their power because of one thing- they said they would abolish the curch and state relationship. This caused the older voters to votr for a party which gained the majority in the elections. Now, there is no left power in control at Iceland.
I don't care what the statistics are, dear fake anon, I care about who wins the game and you can twist it and manipulate. The fact still remains that the left lost. Sure okay, maybe it lost in a unfair way or whatever makes you feel better.
BUT THE LEFT MUST ADAPT OR THE FASCIST WILL WIN
this means no pc politics, only class struggle.

You need to step away from the ideology koolaid. I tried to be patient and present an argument based on reasonable conclusions drawn from data, because I also want the left, broadly speaking, to be in power. The left did not lose because donald trump pitted the lower class against the upper class, or the middle class against against the lower class, or anything like that. The most plausible marxist argument, as I laid out above, is that Trump pitted the lower class against itself. You did nothing to even suggest that's what you meant. The reality is much more complicated than a fucking six minute youtube video of slavoj zizek will encapsulate. If you cannot understand that then you are so wedded to your ideology that you cannot be reasoned with, and any solution you develop will be so warped by adherence to an ideology that it will be an utter failure.

Did you even read my post? I said TWICE that I didn't think that's what happened. I said that was to me a more plausible marxist argument than the confused one you presented. You haven't even given an argument besides "class warfare" without telling anyone which classes were pitted against which other classes, and why that argument is supported by the empirical data. If the left is as dysfunctional and aimless as you, then we are doomed. Luckily it's not.

#1 he hated on people presumed in power
#2 he was the underdog in much of the media, the media being something a lot of us plebs fear ad it's able to ruin reputations.
#3 he promised jobs, something which is in a shortage and damaging the working class
#4 he stood up against the left as it tried to bully him.
Sure, one could twist it all and say hillary did the same But it don't matter, not only has trump made the left retreat in their crooked ways, he has put the left in a position where it's morally bankrupt. Will the left rise to the occasion or will it ignore the will of the people? That remains to be seen.
