In all honesty, they probably have a whole box of extra remotes in case one gets lost or breaks down and they're easily replaceable. Also, I thought that once you paid a hotel room then you were paying for everything in the hotel room and everything that you can carry with you is yours such as lightbulbs, soap and remotes is technically yours.
