I grew up with a significant amount of abuse during childhood so when faced with behavior that I perceive to be hostile towards me then I tend to get defensive with people because I promised myself that I would never let myself be in a position where I was powerless.
i just realized that I have been getting defensive and reacting in situations that aren't a big enough deal to get defensive about, from now on I'm going to use my appropriate conflict resolutioning skills in order to express my emotions and feelings and resolve conflict instead of trying to hurt people so I don't get hurt.

It's not really that I'm getting angry, but it's more based on the way I've been programmed from having shitty parents. I have difficulty trusting people, automatically assume that they're being hostile even if they aren't, and it makes me go into fight or flight mode.
