Well, paradoxical undressing could explain some of weirdness. The tent being ripped open the inside; that's puzzling. I can't imagine a scenario where anyone would do that.

Could someone become extremely disoriented and tried to exit the wrong way? If the light source they were using went out after they lost heat, then I could see that being at least plausible. (I haven't seen anything about what they were using for either heat or light though.)
