I wanted to get the etymology of the word elixir, and am surprised to see:
Top 1% of lookups

I've looked up lots of words but this is the first time I chanced upon a top 1%!

Anyway, the origin:
Middle English, from Medieval Latin, from Arabic al-iksīr the elixir, from al the + iksīr elixir, probably from Greek xērion desiccative powder, from xēros dry

So it's related to Xerox, the name of the company famous for photocopiers!
