I hiked it in 2008. Then I hiked the Virginia portion in 2014, and wound up in hospital for 2 weeks because of Lyme disease.

OP I have replied about your hike - Have only done portions of it and even back in my married days with my wife. BUTTTTTT when it looks like this
Over the years chunks of 8-15 miles a day for say 3-4 days and one 7 day adventure but always during the famous change of color season. I wrote about one or 3 amazing experiences on that trail
One about a bird that never but did with us. Tyme short or I wood search TC or MC and see if I can find it
OP have a great trip cause one can go lite and buy stuff to eat drink along the way - Much like hiking for days at time where Eels lives in Oregon on the coast - Camp on beach or up on Bluff and dine on Sea Creatures or Boysenberries along the way and pick up all one needs at store on highway near coast and its the very same EXACT Hwy I live off of here Hw 101 cept of course Oregon is a bit North of me out of my infamous 15 minute zone
