Nope neigher
People I new from Music biz was 95% in the 70's era late 60's to on n off late 70's - My stint as VP at MCA/Universal. Not there to make movies. Not there to make Music. Think DiscoVision
I was forced to learn the music biz real fast and started to buy companies that made Gear to record or Reproduce Pro Audio on the very most of expensive scale
They ended up making the cold hard cash to develop DiscoVision. A product that failed buttttt has made a small fortune in patent licensing cause no CD DVR or any laser riter or reader cannot function without DiscoVision.
Looking at the list of who died so far in 2016 - I see one who died this year I met in a parking lot as he and his new formed band needed Gear and we new each other via a friendship I had with the person he had just QUIT working4
That name stays off MC for now but could be shared in PM as the mutual friends name is never going to appear via my fingers in open
I am about 2 do something I have refused to do all these many years on NET - Just need a Professional Camera cause so far of the several tried NON can handle he Media I want to share
Need Stops aperture settings that kind of old fashioned stuff - Hummmmm maybe a polarizing filter wood help
Hey if you no anything about photography shoot me a pm and I will share a pic with ya
via Edit in the 80's post a divorce and in need of MONEY for a bit I did go back to music in a temp huge way and will NEVER EVER do that again but happy I did it

How do you feel about Laserdisc getting killed by VHS, but then DVD killing VHS? Do you think disc recording was just ahead of its time?
Also why was DiscoVision better than Capacitance Electronic Disc?
Was it because Laserdisc had to be flipped every 30 minutes?

There is this guy lets call him Lew. Lew was forced to give up Artist Management or the Movie making biz with orders by US Supreme court to do one or the other or lose both so he chose Movies. Then Beta came along and Lew was mad as fuck at the idea that your or I could copy Lews massive library of Movies for free. So he tried to Kill Beta Max in US Supreme court. Court sided with Sony calling it time delay viewing.
So Lew and I must admit he had vision for a kinda scummy Agent of an Attorney who said Stars are just Meat in my Meat Market and I buy Meat and use it any way I chose to use it. He was Smart really Smart but not a kind person.
He was willing to buy a Star at Meat Market Price and he bought me as a Consultant cause every Consultant he interviewed said he was crazy to think one could stamp out a Movie on a Disc the same way you Stamp out a DECCA or MCA record. But Lew insisted it be done that way and hell I said YOU R interviewing all the rong people including me - IR Engineer and he needed Physicists and Mathematicians and Scientists before any Engineering was possible.
Rest of that story for some other tyme. I could save tyme by finding a copy on TC.
RCA's crazy fail of Capacitance disk - Dragging a needle across vinyl records and needle problems are legendary for low frequency audio signals. I have one of those RCA's in storage. Just as a vinyl record picks up dust and makes clicks n pops - The multiple RCA schemes ended up picking up stuff from the air and implanting it to the surface of the disk which needle pushed into the disk as permanent. Needle at speed of disc for Video LOLOLOLOL What the fuck were they thinking?
It just basic Physics 101 - Take the very first Magnetic Disk memories first as a long drum and later as platters in a disk drive - From the get go Physics 101 said NO Head shall touch the magnetic surface - Audio tape drags across the head with hard pressure contact to make it work - lots goes rong over time with this method - SO NO CONTACT for Digital Drives unless of course that dreaded Head Crash
3600 to 10,000 RPM and direct head contact wood be a nitemare - Heads have super tiny gaps that wood wear to nothing or all gap no magnetic field at such speeds if contact
CED just a nightmare - DiscoVision ended up a nitemare cause I chose several Optical design experts from Hughes for hire and my top choice did not like the Movie Star Meat Market he saw upon interview - I told him the work wood be far removed from MCA anything but he wanted it in ritting and at the time I was not allowed to make that promise so another Exec hired my least liked guy who well lets just say - He understood the need to make IC's in a clean room but he had no problem eating his ham sandwich and dropping rye crumbs near the Optical Disk production machines - Many an Optical Disk has rye crumbs embedded along with Tampon cotton and you name it
IBM came in after I departed for adventure with a Congressman and for some unknown reason IBM never was able to get the Rye Crumbs away from dem disks.

Was the tampon cotton used or unused?

In a lab far removed from the DiscoVision manufacturing plant - On the other coast a few of us sat down with microscopes and with a crew of experts in optical storage that is US Gov based - Think 70 MM film experts for Recon memories in Jets n Space stuff
They dug out the offending Rye bread and not kidding Rye seeds from discs on the Market - Licorice Pizza if I remember correctly was selling them in bins.
Speculation was cotton from a Tampon and maybe even the sting - but they used a mass spectrometer to do the chemical analysis.
US Gov was in hell bent rush to see a quality working product they could buy off the shelf or contract for a special version for US Gov Use.
We all laffed a bunch at what was found. Nail polish. Hair gels etc.

Back n 1984, I was supposed 2 B n a video with Whitney Houston. Buuuuuuut it never happened, I did invite her n Bobby Brown 2 my Ocean a blue 2 watch me surf. Bobby did good, but Whitney not so much so good.
Afterwards we went 2 my place 4 sum wine n chilling out. Whitney got pretty wasted n started kissing on me. Bobby laughed n said she likes 3somes, n we should fuck her n her holes.
Well I declined n they got mad n Whitney stormed out naked. Bobby asked me if I was afraid of a "lil chocolate pudding", then he left as well.
So, I been close, but no happen

Here is the real and most honest deal ever. You have viewed me in pics. With all the proof of dancing and all the surfing I do daily in my Ocean Blue, I ended up gaining 12 fucking pounds and this is the 2nd time this has happened - just too much party time. First time to get rid of 12 was NOT fun. Mean hard work. Since that time I added running to my daily diet. HowEver the 12 pounds was still a gain even with all I do, including a lot of Down Hill Skiing which is the most calories one can burn in one hour me thinks?
I ran 5 miles 4 days a week for Cardio and never looked forward to it, or rarely - Did it for reasons to be explained later.
So to explain the free HIGH I decided to modify how I eat again with small changes, and added 5 miles a day to the run and made it 7days/week no fail now about 6 months??? Would have to look that up. That added 12 pounds this tyme around was the FUCKING BEST THING EVER!!!! Adding 5 miles meant a nicer route, with what I call far more EyE candy for view on my runs. The extra 5 turns out to give me a daily
JOLT OF ENDORPHIN'S
Lasts for many hours...Similar to Skiing where at end of day accidents are common from the High. Next day it drives me crazy wanting my next FIX. Honest its the damn best discovery I have made, and its free except for the shoes I wear out often and many go running on beach shoe free. I have but its hell that way on occasions and risky re JellyFish on my beach. 12 now down to 3.5 and I am cheating a lot on food so it goes down more S L O W L Y

I'm not anon J (mods can see this) and I'm not whiteknighting Syntax. I simply asked why you're so obsessed with Syntax. Why are you reacting so defensively?

I see I've made you retreat into your shell again. Couldn't be helped I suppose. I just wish I knew why you've reacted so defensively in this thread. It looks like I've touched a nerve.

How did you expect DiscoVision to compete with VHS when VHS offered more versatility?
With a VCR you can record TV shows and watch movies, but a Laserdisc only allows you to play movies. Was there ever any effort to make a Laserdisc "CD-R" that consumers could record to?
