Assume you are in America where, yes, we tip people. In USD.
I'd normally tip about $5, but thinking about the fact that people are cleaning up after me on Christmas, mostly poorly paid women who have families, I thought I should give them more. Yes?

The hotel may have a policy against employees accepting money, I would check with the supervisor to make sure the employees can receive large amounts of cash as a gift.

I guess it depends on how big the place is you are staying in. How much is it per night? $150? I don't like paying less than $100 or more than $200 when I stay somewhere, as far as comfortable surroundings go.
