Topic: Should atheists be banned from celebrating Christmas.

Green !BEERiVqJJw started this discussion 9 years ago #58,088

I heard a transvestite bus driver and an indian talking about how atheists shouldn't celebrate Christmas and it got me thinking, should they be banned from celebrating it? I found my faith again after God answered my prayer. Tomorrow is Jesus' birthday, why celebrate it if you don't believe in Jesus?

"Christmas" is now two separate holidays that can be celebrated separately to one another. The first, original Christmas is the religious festival. The second Christmas is the secular national holiday. An atheist can celebrate the secular Christmas whilst not celebrating the religious Christmas.

No, because Christian traditions weren't added until much later, whereas a majority of Christmas traditions started from Roman festivals. Plus Christianity once frowned upon the holiday.

The first Christmas was Saturnalia, the second Christmas was more like Mardi Gras, the third is Jesus's birthday, and the fourth and current is the capitalist holiday. Fixed your little analogy there.

Yet, the Christians did not carry on the cool shield formation where they're a turtle. I think that says it all.

Nope, banning a sect group of people from participating in anything would be a violation of the constitution and their freedom of religion which includes lack of religion.

I was talking about the history of where Christmas traditions came from. The keyword there is history.

Matthew 7:1-3King James Version (KJV)

1: Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2: For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3: And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
