Happy/Merry Christmas is 's rah-zh-dee-st-VOHM' (C рождеством!) or 's-schah-st-lee-vah-vah rah-zh dee-st-vah' (Счастливого рождества!).Christmas in Russia is normally celebrated on January 7th (only a few Catholics might celebrate it on the 25th December). The date is different because the Russian Orthodox church uses the old 'Julian' calendar for religious celebration days. The Orthodox Church also celebrates Advent. But it has fixed dates, starting on 28th November and going to the 6th January, so it's 40 days long.

The meal often consists of 12 dishes, representing the 12 disciples of Jesus.

Oh god I remember that. I knew this Russian Orthodox lady and it's insane. They operate on like the Julian calendar so all the dates for everything is different from the real calendar.

Christmas brings decorations n parties n holiday food n PRESENTS and Friends get2getther n damn Christmas was in some way all about a Jew who got hung out to dry. So ya have all these people who got all happy n such about the Hung out Jew who done died. Odd thing is many of them Christians later hated dem Jews. Go figure.
Bottom line is Christmas is much much much fun and soon it will be over n then its a 2nd Christmas Orthodox style

Yea I worked/lived in Russia in all total about 1.5 years. First trip for Qualcomm/Globalstar was to Khabarovsk Siberia for home base for Siberia in general. Arrived as Siberia was starting to freeze and even took a hike with my passport in hand straight over a frozen river to China about 19 miles away. Had Chinese Visa but the Chinese border guards could not read that brand of Chinese and turned me away. Its not easy trekking all the way back for a total of 38 miles when one is dressed up for -12 degree weather and damn lucky I looked at forecast cause it can get to -40 and a storm over that lake wood have made me a Ice Cube.
I did go to Christmas Mass in the major Church in Khabarovsk. That photo in no way can be taken under normal circumstance cause the level of Incense to over come the horrid odors of wool that everyone wears that is NEVER EVER Dry cleaned - Takes a fog of incense and often one cannot see much at all.
Loved just loved Siberia and the people. All Qualcomm/Globalstar facilities are Co-Located in and yes it was forced 2B - In KGB headquarters now renamed SVR (Foreign Intelligence Service)
Each day to get in the 50+ guards,they pretended it was my first visit and it took like 15 minutes to do the paperwork each morning as the guards looked over my documents and shook heads.
Damn riting this makes me yearn for a return. I was treated super well by Russians and never did feel great about Russian Mafia telling me that if anything went rong - To just flag one of them down and the wood help me. They are easy to spot as they all dress in Armani and drive Tan CHROMED UP Toyotas of some model that is not imported to USA.
