Your're right, this will probably be too far for Catherine to travel one time in her life to get a HRT prescription.
She never responds well when Walter tells her to visit an IC clinic, I'm hoping my minimal amount of research and posting a link will get her to go.

You can get an HRT prescription easily, especially in California. An hour and a half is way too far for one when you can get one in your city. Just show that you're informed about the correct dosage of estridiol and Spirnolactone and the side effects such as increased risk for embolism and edema.
If you do that, then you just need to go to your primary and ask.

I've heard that you need a letter from a therapist. That's not the case at all, all you really need to do is go in and ask.
Most doctors aren't familiar with the dosages for HRT, so often times, you'll need to ask for the correct dosage. Showing you're familiar with the sideeffects will increase their confidence in prescribing them to you.

They do. I have found it improves my mood and has anti-depression effects despite them not having any psychoactive properties. I've heard similar things from others.

I actually wasn't seeing a therapist at the time that I got my hormone prescription. I just more or less arranged a visit with my primary, asked for a prescription and got one.
