The election would still be decided by the House of Representatives that you watched get gerrymandered into an ideological mix of baby's first libertarian primer and primal white rage and we would still end up with Trump.

Not holding my breath because the chance of 36 faithless electors voting against their party, especially when faced with both jailtime and criticism from half of the US population is extremely slim.

As awful as Trump is, I don't think it would be right to circumnavigate the vote and keep him out of office.

Democracies can make bad decisions sometimes, but I think it's important that these decisions are still followed. Otherwise, the very foundation of democracy is being damaged and the voters ignored. Seems to me like it's better to take a short-term setback than to erode one's democratic system.

And hey, think of it this way: his Presidency will probably be rife with gaffes, maybe people will learn a lesson about electing that kind of guy. And it's not like he's going to go completely unopposed. The Democrats and anti-Trump citizens will fight him at every turn when he tries to do something harmful or wacky.

Not from where I'm standing. Theresa May said it's happening by March next year, and I've seen nothing to suggest that's changed.

The Tories have a majority in Parliament (though it's only in the low 10s) and Labour, who have the second most amount of MPs, have said they don't want to block Brexit.

The Lib Dems (a liberal party with just 9 MPs currently) are spearheading demands for a second "clarification" referendum where the UK votes on the exact terms of Brexit and if they still want to leave. Though I can't tell quite how likely this is to happen, the two biggest parties have, as it stands, committed to making Brexit happen.

Would it be possible to stay in the EU in everything but name? Like to legally leave it, but then negotiate a treaty that is basically the same thing as being in the EU, but called something else obviously (like how they used to do gay marriage but they called it "domestic partnership" or "civil unions" but it was exactly the same thing as marriage).

It's possible in the sense that something like it could be done, Canada and Norway have special arrangements with the EU that, while not full membership, still give them special privileges with the EU. A similar arrangement for the UK could, in theory, happen.

But whether it will be done is another matter. From what I've seen, the main leaders in the EU are talking a tough game on the matter. No access to the single market without agreeing to freedom of movement is seems to be a common stance. And of course, freedom of movement was one of the major reasons that the UK voted leave, so that's probably not an arrangement that Parliament wound agree to.

The UK side has been a bit less consistent in what their top people are saying. My impression is that they're drawing a red line on immigration, but they're still aware that trade with the EU is important and they're open to different ways to approach negotiations.

I don't know why freedom of movement has to be a thing. Like, America has free trade agreements with Canada and Mexico but each country still has control over borders and immigration.

It's not like the what the USA has with Mexico and Canada. The EU is a much more tightly-knit group, with a (mostly) shared currency and overarching laws. Freedom of movement is an extension of that closeness and has become a central tenant of the EU.

> I think the Eurocrats in Brussels realize the whole thing is increasingly fragile so they have to talk tough and be intimidating.
That's basically the situation, as I see it. There are rising anti-EU parties in other EU countries too. The EU will likely want it to seem that leaving is a bad idea with many drawbacks, in an attempt to curb these Euroscrptic elements.

EU is more like the USA itself. Basic equivalent is that Texas actually decided to Secede except we never had a war over leaving the EU.

I had to do a Double check on what makes one Jewish. We No all Christians that descended from CopyPasta of Jesus the Jew Special meanderings We No they are Jewish as much as any Jew is by decent.

However a LookC at Genetics

Jews and all other humans are 99.9 percent identical in their genetic make-up, and there is no gene known to exist in Jews that does not exist in other population groups.

Now
75% of Jews Are Lactose Intolerant

Damn good thing I did NOT inherit that horrid Gene

1. Two clusters: Jewish communities across the globe share a common "genetic thread", according to a 2010 study led by geneticist Harry Ostrer of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Genetic analysis of seven Jewish groups (Iranian, Iraqi, Syrian, Italian, Turkish, Greek and Ashkenazi) identified two distinct clusters that split about 2,500 years ago: European/Syrian Jews and Middle Eastern Iraqi and Iranian Jews.

Of course that also means those who descended from the Teachings of Jesus the Jew are also part n parcel of this common "genetic thread"

Know thy neighbor: Ostrer's team also found strong genetic ties between each of the two groups and their non-Jewish neighbors: The closest genetic relatives of the Middle Eastern group are Druze, Bedouin and Palestinians, and for European Jews, it is Italians.

3. European ties: Two years later, the same team extended their study to include North African Jews. Their 2012 paper described two discrete genetic clusters: Djerban, Libyan, and Tunisian Jews, who are closely related to one another; and Algerian and Moroccan Jews, with distinct European ties—most likely stemming from the migration of tens of thousands of Sephardi Jews to the Mahgreb (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia) following their expulsion from Spain in 1492.

4. Ethiopian Jews form their own distinct genetic cluster, most probably arising from Jewish founders who converted the local population.

Carrying mutations: Most mutations for "Jewish" genetic diseases are recessive, meaning that a child must inherit the mutation from both parents in order to show symptoms of the disease. Harboring one copy of the mutation means that the individual is a carrier of the disease.

According to the Jewish Genetic Disease Consortium, it is estimated that nearly one in two Ashkenazi Jews in the United States—the descendants of European Jews—is a carrier of at least one of 38 genetic diseases, including Tay-Sachs Disease, Gaucher Disease, and Bloom Syndrome. A separate panel of 16 genetic disorders, including Familial Mediterranean Fever and the blood disorder alpha-thalassemia, are found among Jews of Sephardi/Mizrahi origin.

> >
> >
> >
> >

Carrying mutations: Most mutations for "Jewish" genetic diseases are recessive, meaning that a child must inherit the mutation from both parents in order to show symptoms of the disease. Harboring one copy of the mutation means that the individual is a carrier of the disease.

A separate panel of 16 genetic disorders, including Familial Mediterranean Fever and the blood disorder alpha-thalassemia, are found among Jews of Sephardi/Mizrahi origin.
