Or will you get one of those infomercial exercise contraptions instead?

Metæ !goTRUMPlbg joined in and replied with this 9 years ago, 1 minute later[^] [v] #741,978

No, I'm using the elliptical and going for long walks. I'm still worried about tearing my knees up jogging.

But now that you mention it, I really should get a shakeweight. Perhaps two so I can get ripped twice as fast.

The infomercial fatties are getting such good results from only 3 minutes of using the contraptions though. I saw one where you just have to stand on a thing that shakes, and women turn into gorgeous models and the men into Adonis sculptures. Just buy one of those

Have you tried jogging in the pool? It's a lot easier on the knees and because it's underwater you get more of a workout

I mean to go water jogging this week. My pass lets me into the pool but I am a little nervous to go for some reason.

I did 1,000 calories on the elliptical last night in one hour. It's a NordicTrack® E7.1 in case you were interested. The marketing was a bit deceptive: the brunette girl is NOT included.

I came to the realization that things kind of have an opposite effect. Relaxing all the time makes you more and more uncomfortable and gluttony just makes you less and less satisfied.

Another thousand calories tonight. They say a pound of fat is 3,000 calories so I should have lost 10⅔ ounces of fat in the past 48 hours.

Okay I skipped last night but I DID do 1,018 calories in exactly 1 hour tonight. So that puts me at an average of 750 calories a day for the past four days. I adjusted my elliptical from a 15° to a 30° incline, to exercise different muscle groups and also to burn more calories (they say it burns more calories at a higher incline)

Also this thread is now Metæ's personal exercise blog.

Also it's really weird now in today's society we have machines designed so you can expend your energy doing NOTHING of value. We have so much food available in America today that there's a whole industry devoted to building machines which turn calories into nothing. What would our ancestors think? That we have people - hundreds of millions of people - getting sick and actually dying because they eat too much. It's nuts. I haven't had my blood work done since I was a small child but I'm sure my system is all messed up. I'm 5'10" and I weigh 315lbs. 2XL t-shirts are kind of tight.

Nope not that sewage producing oil

> Olestra lost its popularity due to side effects, but products containing the ingredient can still be purchased at grocery stores in some countries.

> The FDA concluded that "subjects eating olestra-containing chips were no more likely to report having had loose stools, abdominal cramps, or any other GI symptom

What has worked for me for many years is 99% Natural. The other 1% is probably of no concern of yours although it might be

For instance one can bake French Fries without any added oil and have them come out super crispy crunchy - Potato chips as well - The one downside is that you have to eat them up because shelf life is under 15 minutes.

Fried Chicken - I continue to experiment for the CRISP CRUNCH and Super Taste - I have not settled on any one method and keep on in quest of the very best

For a pot luck party where they begged me for my Chile Relleno's. Far far FAR more tasty then any Mexican Restaurant and infinitely more healthy.

Some things are as simple as using 94-7% Ground sirloin instead of Chuck.

Also nor have I had the time to verify research on this. Areobic of course is great life extending and weight control - Books I own say adding Non Aerobic to the mix jacks up the weight loss
I think this is the reason for my more rapid weight loss + I found myself eating far more healthy recently and probably in anticipation
to my normal weight gain during the holiday season

Another important key for me is being able to eat a very large dinner and that means learning how to make what I love but just do it more healthy - I refuse to eat dull food.

I think in all seriousness that you are playing Russian Roulette with 5 bullets in a 6 bullet cylinder.

The single most famous book for Runners - Jim Fixx

> Fixx started running in 1967 at age 35. He weighed 214 pounds (97 kg) and smoked two packs of cigarettes per day. Ten years later, when his book, The Complete Book of Running (which spent 11 weeks at No. 1 on the best-seller list) was published, he was 60 pounds (27 kg) lighter and smoke-free. In his books and on television talk shows, he extolled the benefits of physical exercise and how it considerably increased the average life expectancy.

Fixx died on July 20, 1984 at age 52 of a fulminant heart attack, after his daily run on Vermont Route 15 in Hardwick.[1] The autopsy revealed that atherosclerosis had blocked one coronary artery 95%, a second 85%, and a third 70%.

In 1986 exercise physiologist Kenneth Cooper published an inventory of the risk factors that might have contributed to Fixx's death. Granted access to his medical records and autopsy, and after interviewing his friends and family, Cooper concluded that Fixx was genetically predisposed - his father died of a heart attack at 43 after a previous one at 35, and Fixx himself had a congenitally enlarged heart - and had an unhealthy life: Fixx was a heavy smoker before beginning running at age 36, had a stressful occupation, had undergone a second divorce, and his weight before he took up running had ballooned to 214 pounds (97 kg). Medical opinion continues to uphold the link between moderate exercise and longevity.[

Fixx was of very high IQ and yet pure dumb as fuck for not doing research on his own diet. Fixx ate much the same way you describe what you eat.

You should/must get some basic tests b4 you continue working as hard as you are to burn the 1000 - Little things like Heart Rate at start vs HR as you go towards Aerobic - Blood pressure cause you could real easy blow a fuse - Push gunk from feet all the way to brain in just seconds and Stroke out

I don't smoke though and that's a major difference. Also I probably don't have a congenital heart condition like Fixx.

It's getting easier now to do the daily 1,000 after five days. Also I do it at a moderate pace on a high resistance, I average about 33 RPM over the workout but I'm on level 15 (out of 16 levels) resistance. I'm not running fast, it's more like walking up a steep ramp is what it feels like.

I'll do my heart rate before during and after. I do have somewhat high blood pressure but I don't think I have too much gunk in my arteries.

@743,475 (K)

> I do have somewhat high blood pressure but I don't think I have too much gunk in my arteries.

If I remember correctly you are on a quest for the next job opportunity. So perhaps no insurance and cost being the only issue re where your body is at under exercise stress.

Check out near by free clinics - You can always say you have reason to believe you;re worried about a heart problem. Look into local teaching hospital - Back when they were developing better tools to measure small particle LDL's and I heard Santa Monica Hospital was first to get a unit to test with selected patients and staff - I went in and discussed how I as an outsider could get in on the tests

No amount of money was the route so I had to work out an exchange. I exchanged Blood Platelets for that test and others that the hospital was doing in conjunction with UCLA.

When they did a Doppler on me after I flunked Cholesterol in a horrid just horrid way. My carotid artery was jammed up 90%. Hospital of course refused to let me walk out and offered a read deal on a room with Ocean View. No surgery for me. I hit UCLA Med library and discovered multiple ways for me to unblock what was blocked and did.

> daily 1,000 after five days

How many weeks/days to build up at that level? I of course burn more than that but the build up time was months.

I started at that level. On day one I thought I was going to literally die and had to stop like every thirty seconds and catch my breath and now by day six I feel okay doing it. I have a BIG glass of brandy before workout to help me slog through it.

Haven't had cholesterol checked ever. It could be 10,000 for all I know.

Syntax replied with this 9 years ago, 11 minutes later, 6 days after the original post[^] [v] #743,725

Haven't had cholesterol checked ever.
Yet you say you have had High Blood Pressure. Ya might look up why people have high blood pressure.

If you do have gunk in pipes as I did. That gunk under stress or even no stress at all can break off - Block a lung or jam a heart valve OR hit the brain and starve it for Oxygen which is STROKE Tyme

And consider this - If you end up with such a problem and even if you get past it without heart or brain damage. While in bed in recovery you end up with huge weight gain.

Y when its kinda simple to get a few tests Y not? Drug stores like CVS often offer free Cholesterol tests - Bragging that I can no longer use them as they cannot deal with my high HDL - Nor was it easy to achieve that but its sure damn easy to keep it
