The people who took out those mortgages cannot be held responsible, it is the banking system and greed which then caused them to continually add value to something of no cash value and as a result send the world monies into a black hole.
It was people not understanding what they where buying, which is not surprising when what they where buying with peoples invested money was the same nothing they packaged and sold to someone else at a higher price so they could resell that and buy it down the line again.
